Windsurfing Beaches Coronotion Beach, Geraldton for the junior windsurf camp and the U13 Oceania Youth Wave event.  Coronation Beach has easy, flat water in front, which flows in some soft, small swells that crumble at best.  Further out the back is bigger, but still quite soft waves.  It’s the perfect place for junior windsurfers of all levels, plus more advanced riders can still loop and waveride out the back.  The younger, less experienced competitors can still ride the smaller inside break at Coronations, whilst the more experienced/confident riders can ride out the back. The Spot, Oakajee River Mouth and Sunset Beach, Geraldton, are an option for the more advanced riders (eg, U21 Pro Junior, U18 Junior and possibly U15 depending on conditions and skill level.  We’re likely to run at the Spot if the swell is small and will only use Sunset Beach if the swell is large.  A 4WD is needed for the Spot but lifts can be arranged for competitors without a 4WD.  It is 5 minutes from Coronation Beach. WAVE RALLY CATEGORIES There will be 4 categories of competitors. However, all sailors will be mixed in the heats. There will be a winner for each category above plus a bonus Overall World Champion belt. The top 10 sailors on the overall leaderboard after the finals, regardless of category, will race for the Wave Rally Overall World Champion title. WINDSURF GEAR ALLOWED The Wave Rally concept is unique as the event is a 'Wave Slalom' style format however with certain rules on gear. The organiser aims to make the racing as fun & equal as possible, so in the spirit of this event, please respect Wave Rally's mission! The equipment rules are simple; Must be a ‘Wave’ or ‘Freewave’ multi-fin board, either 2, 3 or 4 fins (no single fins) Maximum 5 battens on sails (no cambers)  COMPETITION FORMAT There will be 2 competition days out of the 3-day event window. The best wind forecast will determine competition days.  Competition Day 1 will see multiple round-robin races where everybody gets the same number of heats, most likely 4-5 rounds. Each round, you will be sailing against different sailors. Points will be awarded in each heat depending on your place which goes toward a leaderboard. Competition Day 2 will see another 2-3 rounds sailed, and once complete, the top 20 sailors in each division on the leaderboard will enter the Semi Final rounds with 10-person heats. The top 50% of sailors of each Semi-Final will enter the Grand Final, where the opportunity exists to be crowned Wave Rally World Champion! In light winds, we will provide inflatable high performance WindSup boards for all competitors to connect their sail to. The uni joint will be a 'pin style', so please bring an extension to accommodate that. The light wind format will be a 'ONE DESIGN' race & all competitors will use this board for equality. Competition on the WindSups will follow the same structure as above. If the wind increases to a suitable level, sailors can resume using their own gear as announced at the event. The IWT has given the event a ‘3-Star rating’ for its Oceania leg of its proposed 2025 WORLD RACE TOUR. The highest-rated event of this kind in the region. For more information about the race format, watch this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4j1zdPLyiU *In the event of a race dispute, the organiser's decision is final. For more information, please refer to the document EVENT RULES AND REGULATIONS in the 'Files for Download' below.
